South Tyneside Council School Reorganisation Competition To Establish A New Mainstream Primary School In South Shields. Notice is given in accordance with section 7 (1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that South Tyneside Local Authority invites proposals to establish a new mainstream school.

It is proposed that the school should open on 1st September 2011.

The school will be situated at Rembrant Avenue, South Shields, Tyne & Wear NE34 8RZ.  The school will serve the Whiteleas, Biddick Hall and Cleadon Park areas of South Shields.

It is confirmed that the local education authority will transfer their interest in the site, buildings or premises to the school’s trustees, foundation body, or governing body, as appropriate.

The new school should cater for pupils between the ages of 3 and 11 and provide places for 315 boys and girls.  In addition, a further 26 full time equivalent places will be provided for nursery pupils.

The admission number for the school on the opening date will be 45.

The Local Authority wishes for the new school to offer extended services such as Breakfast Club, After School Clubs, family learning, community use of the buildings for organisations such as the Girls Brigade and Family Room and community use of the sports fields.

The estimated capital costs of providing the school are £4.75 million.
