The Stroke AssociationWHY TYNESIDE BIKE RIDE? Because it’s an excellent challenge, and great fun, too. Whether you ride with friends, family, a group from the office or on your own, The Tyneside Bike Ride is a great day out, and for a great cause. You can raise money to help the 250,000 people in the UK living with disabilities caused by stroke.

Experience an exhilarating bike ride following the Tyne River past some of the river’s most famous landmarks – this is cycling at its best. This amazing journey will take you from the picturesque beach resort of Tynemouth through parkland and cycle paths, crossing the river through the historic Tyne Tunnel, to the heart of Newcastle and the breathtaking Millennium Bridge before circling back towards the coast for a celebration on Tynemouth’s beautiful coast.

AFTER THE HARD WORK …

… relax and celebrate! After the ride, participants are invited to join us near Freestone Point with family and friends and enjoy the entertainment, music and food.

So come on, be one of the 200 cyclists taking part on Sunday 26 July and help raise the funds that will make a real difference to people whose lives have been touched by stroke.

Haven’t got a bike? Don’t worry – we can provide you with one for free, for use on the bike ride. So there is no excuse not to register! Just call us on 0191 492 6166.

WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

Every year, over 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That’s one person every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, even children and babies.

Every five minutes someone in England and Wales suffers a stroke. The effects are devastating, not only for the stroke patient, but for their families, too. Which is why every penny you raise really will make a difference.

SPONSORSHIP

Your entry fee will only cover the cost of running the event. It’s the sponsorship money you raise that goes towards The Stroke Association’s vital work. We ask you to commit to raise £50 each, or £120 per family (maximum of five). Your entry pack contains lots of handy hints on increasing your sponsorship, and the Tyneside Bike Ride Events Team are always on hand to get you to, and hopefully beyond, your target.

And for you … Each participant receives an entry pack, containing route map, fundraising tips and the all important sponsorship form. In addition, all those who cross the finish line will receive a medal to mark their fantastic cycling achievement. A limited edition t-shirt will be provided to all participants at the start of the ride. So join us on Sunday 26th July for a great ride along the river Tyne.
