In 2006 we celebrated our 25th Anniversary and this benchmark year proved to be one of our most successful yet! We have not only met all of our organisational aim & objective targets, surpassed them in all cases.

Aims

  • To support the development of an effective and efficient voluntary sector.
  • To encourage innovation, self help and consolidation.
  • To support and assist the development of voluntary organisations and in particular, fragile and emergent groups.
  • To empower individuals to play a full and active part in the local community.
  • To encourage groups to share resources and co-ordinate activities in order to reduce the potential for unnecessary duplication.
  • To act as a resource for the voluntary sector.
  • To enable statutory bodies to make and maintain links with voluntary organisations.
  • To identify gaps in service provision.
  • To facilitate communication and the development of partnerships within the voluntary sector and between voluntary and statutory agencies.
  • To strive to ensure that the services and resources of the CVS are accessible to all sections of the community and delivered to a recognised quality standard.

Objectives

  • To provide advice, information and practical assistance.
  • To establish and operate an information service.
  • To recruit and support potential volunteers.
  • To research needs and stimulate responses in co-operation with other agencies.
  • To provide quality training on relevant issues.
  • To provide central resources of a character which groups individually would be unable to justify.
  • To link groups to the most appropriate source(s) of help.
  • To assist in the development and maintenance of the consultation mechanisms.
  • To promote a positive learning environment thereby facilitating personal and professional development.
  • To promote equality of opportunity in all aspects of the organisation's work and ensure the maintenance of agreed quality standards.
